Events in Cayman Islands

Each year, the Cayman Islands hosts world-class sporting events such as marathons, swim races, basketball tournaments and more. Whether it’s your first competition, or you’re a seasoned athlete or spectator, there is an event for you in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Caribbean.

The Cayman Islands has year-round athletic activities for all interests. The notable Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon provides runners the chance to participate in a winter race in the heart of the Caribbean, and it is also a prestigious qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. The Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon takes place on the first Sunday in December every year and consists of a full marathon, half marathon, four-person relay and a Kids Fun Run.

The Flowers Sea Swim has come to be considered a must-do event for open-water aficionados. The unique draw of the Flowers Sea Swim is not only its flawless course conditions along Cayman’s beautiful Seven Mile Beach, but the numerous random prizes as well. The race is the world’s richest open-water event, with over $100,000 in cash and random prizes. The odds to win a random prize are 1-in-5 and previous giveaways have included Blackberries, iPad’s, hotel stays, and dozens of airline tickets to premier destinations such as Miami, New York, Panama, Rome, Los Angeles, London, Dublin, Rio de Janeiro, and Toronto. The Walk & Watch programme offers an alternative for non-swimmers who want to be able to take part in the excitement of the Flowers Mile and contribute to a worthy cause at the same time.

The Cayman Islands Classic is an annual preseason men’s division 1 college basketball tournament that takes place during Thanksgiving week in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, at John Gray gymnasium. In it’s third year, the 12-game, three-day tournament, is regarded as one of the most challenging and exciting early-season tournaments.

The 2019 Cayman Islands Classic will include Nebraska, Loyola Chicago, Colorado State, Washington State, University of South Florida, Old Dominion University, New Mexico State University and George Mason University. The tournament is organized by Caymax Sports Ltd.
